SwitchMarket's Guide to SIM Only Deals
What is a SIM Only deal?
A SIM Only deal is a mobile contract that provides a set monthly allowance of data, minutes, and texts, but does not include a new mobile handset. Because you are not paying off the cost of a phone, SIM only contracts are significantly cheaper. You simply order the SIM, insert it into your current unlocked phone, and start saving. SwitchMarket lets you compare 1-month rolling contracts, as well as 12-month and 24-month plans.
Can I keep my current mobile number?
Yes, keeping your exact mobile number when switching networks is free and very easy. Simply text the word PAC to 65075 from your current phone. Your provider will instantly reply with your Porting Authorisation Code (PAC), which is valid for 30 days. Once you order your new SIM deal through SwitchMarket, simply give that PAC code to your new network, and they will transfer your number over (usually within one working day).
Which UK network has the best coverage?
The UK is powered by four main network infrastructures: EE, O2, Vodafone, and Three. While EE consistently ranks the highest for overall 4G and 5G coverage speeds across the UK, the best network ultimately depends on your local area. Money-saving tip: Many smaller providers actually "piggyback" on these major networks. For example, TalkMobile uses Vodafone's masts, iD Mobile uses Three's masts, and Tesco Mobile uses O2. By comparing deals on SwitchMarket, you can get the exact same premium coverage for a fraction of the cost.
